When Raine Brookshire arrived in Houston from Ghana, his mother enrolled him in Harmony School of Discovery - Houston. There, he was introduced to rigorous STEM courses and developed a fascination with studying the stars, finding a personal connection to the pigment patches caused by his vitiligo. He quickly climbed to the top of his class, graduating as Valedictorian with a 4.2 GPA.
As a QuestBridge recipient, Raine accepted an offer from Dartmouth, choosing to study astrophysics before switching to Quantitative Social Science, while still planning to minor in Astrophysics. He credits Dartmouth with opening his eyes to the power of sociological data and storytelling through numbers, a passion sparked by advanced math courses at Harmony.
Raine’s achievements extend beyond academics. He participates in inter-Ivy chess tournaments, power lifts, swims with intramurals, volunteers with Dartmouth Tech Consulting Group and Dartmouth Sports Analytics, belongs to Delta Tau Delta fraternity, runs a start-up, and practices Jiu Jitsu. His passion for chess began at Harmony School of Discovery.
Raine’s LinkedIn posts reflect his passion for people and storytelling. In a recent post, he emphasized the importance of embracing each moment and the power of influence and awareness in reframing reality.
In June 2025, Raine will graduate from Dartmouth with an impressive resume. His senior thesis combines storytelling, gang activity, and school gun violence, using data to tell a powerful story. Raine attributes his success to his teachers at Harmony School of Discovery, who laid a strong foundation for him to explore his passions. He simply says, “Thank you!” to those who helped him along the way.
