Strong schools are built through partnerships, and three Harmony Public Schools-North Texas parents are being recognized at the state level for the difference they have made in their school communities.

Sadia Hassan of Harmony Science Academy-Euless, Villa Copeland of Harmony Science Academy-Dallas Elementary and Hannah Ramsey of Harmony School of Innovation-Garland were named recipients of the 2026 Heroes for Children Award.

The three are among 15 Texans selected for this year's recognition by the Texas State Board of Education. The Heroes for Children Award honors volunteers who make significant contributions to public education through their time, service, and support of students and schools.

While each parent's story is different, their commitment to their school communities shares a common thread: stepping up when students, families, and educators need support.

Sadia Hassan: Bringing a Community Together

At Harmony Science Academy-Euless, Hassan has become someone the school community can count on.

Earlier this year, when a senior student's family lost their home in a fire, Hassan helped organize a community response. In just three days, the effort raised more than $1,000 and collected clothing, food and other essential items for the family.

Hassan also serves as PTO vice president and was named the campus's 2026 Parent of the Year. Her involvement extends to fundraising, teacher appreciation, and supporting students and families when unexpected needs arise.

Her willingness to bring people together reflects the kind of partnership that can make a lasting difference in a school community.

Villa Copeland: Supporting Students and Families

At Harmony Science Academy-Dallas Elementary, Copeland made parent involvement a meaningful part of her family's connection to the school.

As PTO vice president and the campus's 2026 Parent of the Year, she supported school initiatives while also helping connect students and families with resources when they needed them.

Her involvement reflected the many ways parents contribute to a school community, sometimes through organized leadership and sometimes through individual acts of support behind the scenes.

For Copeland, being involved meant recognizing that student success is a shared effort between families and educators.

Hannah Ramsey: Sharing Her Time and Experience

At Harmony School of Innovation-Garland, Ramsey has contributed her time and professional experience across a wide range of student programs and campus activities.

A nurse by profession, Ramsey has supported classroom learning, student programs and athletics. She has also volunteered with campus events and field trips, helping create additional opportunities and experiences for students.

Her commitment to the school community previously earned her recognition as the 2026 Campus and District Parent of the Year.

Ramsey's involvement is a reminder that parents bring their own experiences, talents and perspectives into school communities, creating opportunities for students that extend beyond the classroom.

Honored at the State Level

On September 4, 2026, Hassan, Copeland, and Ramsey were formally recognized alongside their fellow honorees during the State Board of Education meeting in Austin.

For Harmony Public Schools-North Texas, having three parents among this year's 15 recipients is a meaningful reflection of the families who give their time, energy and support to their school communities every day.

Their work looks different from campus to campus, but the impact is the same: stronger connections between families and schools and more support for the students they serve.
